« back to classes page
This completely new 6-week course will direct you in applying your basic blacksmithing knowledge to more advanced and challenging projects. We will start by adding welding with a gas forge to your drawing, upsetting, twisting, punching, splitting and bending abilities. Then you will design and craft a matching set of cooking utensils including a fork, spatula and ladle. Not only will you sharpen and refine your skills and instincts, you also learn how to develop and choose a design, plan your approach to the metal, keep good records and replicate sizes, shapes and motifs. To enroll in this course, you must have received at least 12 hours of formal blacksmithing instruction or bring substantial previous experience. If you have taken one of the blacksmithing courses offered at the Bay Path Evening School, you satisfy this requirement. If you want to apply some previous experience and/or recent instruction elsewhere, you can sign up but you will need to talk to the instructor before your registration is final. Materials fee: $30 (cash only) payable to the instructor on the first night. Special Equipment: A list will sent to each student prior to the start of class. Class is limited to 4 students. 6 weeks/18 hours
