The idea of art journaling is your own way of expression through words, imagery, texture and color.  The beautiful part of it is that no one else has to see it. The idea of having a personal journal is to help you loosen up, experiment with ideas or supplies you have on hand or get ideas out that you may want to bring onto a larger canvas.  This process will also introduce the idea of intuitive exploration, letting each mark and each idea dictate the next. By truly letting go and living in the moment you can learn to create for yourself, and not what others expect of you. This 8 week course will start with making your own journal in the first class. After we have our journals we will go into a step by step exploration on how to go about starting a spread, how to find our color palettes, how to create our backgrounds, different ways to express yourself that feels right to you and where to go from there. A supply list will be handed out on the first class. Please plan to bring supplies to make your journal on the first night of class.  11” x 15” 140lb watercolor paper, pencil, scissors, old rag or towel, (burnisher if you have), bookbinding thread or thread meant for thick fabric, needle, awl or pointy tool to make holes with and clamps to hold the pages down. 8 weeks/16 hours
