Short Description: If you’ve been wondering what do dental assistants do, this course will tell you all about it. Our certified dental assistant program is designed for individuals who don’t have any professional dental experience but want to improve their opportunities in the dental healthcare industry.
Our dental assistant course will teach students in detail about:
• The history of dentistry
• Essential legal information
• Oral anatomy
• Operation techniques
• Various dental equipment
Our aim for this interactive and multimedia-rich course is to provide students with the opportunity to develop mastery over procedures, standards, and the tools required for dental procedures. This way, when you acquire a job in a dental office, you’ll be prepared for all tasks that are expected from you.
This course also awards students with an exam vouchers for the exams required to become a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) through the Dental Assisting National Board(DANB). Experience requirements apply, please visit the danb.org website for more details.
If you’re looking for hands-on experience in the field, we provide opportunities for optional clinical externships at local healthcare providers as well.
Instructor Description: Though this program is a self-paced program it is supported by an educational mentor. Educational mentors are subject matter experts who have years of experience in their field as well as the necessary educational training and credentials to work as an expert. The mentor is available to answer any questions a learner may have including questions on course content, course material, certifications, and even industry questions. Mentors also monitor the progress of learners to ensure training retention and program advancement. In eLearning, motivation is a key tool to success. Because of this, mentors provide encouraging comments, feedback, and coaching to motivate learners throughout the duration of the program to support completion and success!
Certification: DANB’s Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) certification consists of three component exams:
General Chairside Assisting (GC)
Radiation Health and Safety (RHS)
Infection Control (ICE)
These exams are included in your program tuition.
Requirements for Certification:
1. High school graduation or equivalent, AND
2. Minimum of 3,500 hours of approved work experience, AND
3. Current hands-on CPR, BLS or ACLS from a DANB-accepted provider.
Those who do not meet the above requirements can pursue a National Entry Level Dental Assistant (NELDA) certification. The NELDA certification consists of three component exams:
Anatomy, Morphology and Physiology (AMP)
Infection Control (ICE)
Radiation Health and Safety (RHS)
