Everyone loves flowers. People cut them and bring them into their homes. In Japan this simple act has been developed into a sophisticated art form called ikebana. This practice emphasizes asymmetrical form and “empty” space as an essential feature of the composition to express the sense of harmony among the material, the container, and the setting. This "Starter to Ikebana" class will be a single class which will introduce the art of ikebana, provide some historical information of the art, and will allow the student to create an ikebana arrangement. More comprehensive ikebana classes will be offered for those students wishing to further their journey of learning on this beautiful art form.
Please note: Image is an example of the type of arrangement you'll be making.
