: In this course, you will learn the structure of the heart and how it functions to supply the body with oxygen and nutrients. You will also learn the main types of heart disease and how changes in heart structure and function lead to those diseases. Finally, you will explore how to prevent certain cardiac conditions and how doctors treat them.

Lesson 1
Lesson 1: Overview of Cardiac Structure and Function
At the end of Lesson 1 you will know the basic structure of the heart, the mechanisms controlling heartrate, and the function of the heart.
Lesson 2: Common Cardiac Diseases
At the end of Lesson 2 you will know the causes and symptoms of prevalent cardiac diseases and how they are diagnosed: 1) coronary artery disease, 2) heart defects, 3) inflammation and infection, 4) cardiomyopathy, and 5) arrhythmias.
Lesson 3: Prevention and Treatments for Common Cardiac Disease
At the end of Lesson 3 you will know the common recommendations for prevention and treatment of prevalent cardiac disease: 1) coronary artery disease, 2) heart defects, 3) inflammation and infection, 4) cardiomyopathy, and 5) arrhythmias. This will include dietary, pharmaceutical, and surgical interventions.
