BASIC BLACKSMITHING: Fall Heat and Beat!

Have you longed to try your hand at blacksmithing? Do you want to improve your skills? This course is the first of 2 brand new beginner level courses. Fall Heat and Beat is a stand alone course that will have you using skills such as tapering, drawing, upsetting, hot splitting, twisting, punching, and drifting. Projects will include a candle holder, double wall hook,  wine glass holder, corkscrew, and bowed pot rack. Class discussion will include shop safety, shop layout, project planning, and shopping for tools and materials.The second course Spring Heat and Beat will be a stand alone course as well with either being a good precursor to the Beyond Basics class being offered. This series of 6, 3 hour sessions will be a fun and enjoyable encounter with hot metal in a friendly, supportive and informative environment. Required equipment for the course include safety glasses and leather gloves with more details to follow in the introduction letter. Materials fee: $25 (cash only) payable to the instructor on the first night. Class is limited to 4 students (it is suggested to put your name on the waiting list is class if full)    6 weeks/18 hours
